Erie Criminal Lawyer Addresses Gun Owners

Erie criminal defense attorney Tim George recently addressed gun owners about the rights and responsibilities of those who carry concealed firearms in Pennsylvania. Hundreds of gun owners gathered in both Edinboro and Harborcreek to learn about what they can and cannot do (and often what they should do in order to be both safe and responsible) when carrying a concealed weapon.
Representative Greg Lucas (R-Erie/Crawford) and Representative Curt Sonney (R-Erie) organized the educational forums. Tim George of Purchase, George & Murphey, P.C., Erie County Sheriff John Loomis, Lieutenant Kirk Reese, and Trooper Steve Oler of the Pennsylvania State Police spoke to the groups on April 10, 2014 at the Edinboro Council Chambers and on April 24, 2014 at Stancliff Hose Company. They addressed various topics, which included how to obtain a concealed carry license, when and where gun owners can carry concealed firearms, and under what circumstances someone is (and is not) justified in using deadly force.
“There’s a lot of misinformation about the rights and responsibilities of gun owners in Pennsylvania. We want to provide good and reliable information about this important topic. We believe that this is the best way to ensure safe and responsible gun ownership in our community,” said Tim George.
The feedback from those in attendance was overwhelmingly positive, and similar forums are scheduled for later this summer.
