The two adults were part of a group of nine returning home to Cleveland from Buffalo Monday when their Honda Odyssey veered off the highway and crashed into a tree near Portland, NY (See yesterday’s Blog entry ). Five adults and four children were in the van driven by Hung Q. Tran, 37 when it drifted into the median on Interstate 90 then crossed back over both westbound lanes and then off the shoulder, down an embankment and into a tree.
A child was also taken to Hamot Medical Center in Erie while two other adults were taken to Westfield Memorial Hospital and two other children were taken to Women and Children’s Hospital in Buffalo. A fourth child was treated at the scene.
Authorities report that one of the children, who had been in critical condition, has been upgraded to serious condition. Another adult remains in critical condition.
The investigation into the accident continues.
Our thoughts are with everyone involved in this interstate car accident and with their families who are grieving and hoping for recovery for their hospitalized members.
