The SUV is believed to have damage on its passenger side, possibly including a broken front passenger-side headlight lens, a damaged or missing mirror and other passenger side damage.
The accident occurred near 8:10 p.m. in the 2900 block of West Lake Road in Millcreek Township.
People with information about the accident should contact Millcreek Police at 833-7777.
Hopefully, the hit-and-run driver is identified and held responsible for the harm he or she caused this woman. Regardless, she should be in contact with an experienced Erie injury lawyer with knowledge of both Pennsylvania pedestrian accident law and Pennsylvania uninsured motorist insurance claims. Even if the hit-and-run driver is never identified, the injured pedestrian may be entitled to compensation from her own uninsured motorist insurance coverage if she is a named insured on an auto policy, if she is a resident relative of someone who owns an auto insurance policy or if she otherwise qualifies as an insured on an auto policy.
Generally, people who are victims of hit-and-run accidents should be aware both that there is a possibility of recovery against their own insurance and they should also know that there may be special notice requirements of such coverage when “phantom vehicles” are involved. If these notice requirements are not met in a prompt manner then the injured person can lose their right to recover. People injured in “phantom vehicle” or hit-and-run accidents should waste no time in consulting with an experienced Erie hit-and-run lawyer (particularly because most Erie injury lawyers charge nothing for an initial consult).
