October 31, 2011, ERIE, PA — Tonight is Halloween and, most counties in northwest Pennsylvania (except Crawford County) will be having their trick or treaters out in force between roughly 5 and 8 p.m. In the City of Eerie and Harborcreek, trick-or-treating will be 6 – 8 p.m.
Halloween is a lot of fun and we hope everyone enjoys the holiday to the fullest but we feel obliged to point out that Halloween can also be a dangerous time. Fatal car accidents involving children age 4 – 14 are four times higher on Halloween than they are the rest of the year. So, take a moment to consider safety.
For drivers, please review last year’s Halloween driving tips blog entry.
Parents still putting together a costume can get free Halloween costume safety tips.
As always, texting and driving is incredibly dangerous, especially tonight when kids in costumes will be darting between parked cars and across streets. So, be alert and keep your eyes on the road.
Have fun and be safe!
