September 6, 2010, Wattsburg, PA — Early reports of a two vehicle collision in Venango Township indicate that two teenagers were injured, at least one of them seriously.
The Erie County car crash happened yesterday near 6:40 pm just south of the Wattsburg-Erie County Fairgrounds. The two teenagers were southbound on Routes 8/89 in a Plymouth Neon when a Dodge Ram pickup truck made a left turn in front of them. Damage to the Neon was substantial enough that emergency crews needed a pry bar to free the passenger.
No information is yet available on the identities of the injured young men except that the driver is reportedly a 17 year old young man from Union City and the passenger a 15 year old from Wattsburg, PA. The driver’s injuries are reported as moderate while the passenger’s injuries are reported as major. Both Erie car crash victims were taken to Hamot Medical Center via Wattsburg ambulances.
The driver of the pick up was identified as Kyle Smith, 24, of Union City. He was reportedly northbound and attempting to make a left turn into a nearby driveway when he turned in front of the southbound Plymouth Neon.
