Erie Car Crash Lawyer News Man Jailed In Peach Street Hit And Run

August 22, 2011

August 23, 2011, ERIE, PA — A unidentified person was injured by a hit and run driver on Peach Street Friday night. The Erie car accident happened at the intersection of 26th Street and Peach Street near 11:20 p.m. Witnesses say that the driver of a Ford Ranger pick-up was northbound on Peach Street when he attempted to make a left turn onto 26th Street and struck a pedestrian who was in the crosswalk.

The driver, Craig Marshall Stout, 26, of Jeannette, Pennsylvania, then allegedly drove away. Witnesses followed Mr. Stout and told police where he parked his truck in the 1100 block of Peach Street. Mr. Stout was found a few blocks from his car and arrested for his conduct in the Erie hit and run accident. Police report that Mr. Stout had a suspended license. Mr. Stout is in the Erie County Prison on a $50,000 bond.

No information is available about the victim or the extent of the victim’s injuries and we are hopeful that the victim of the Erie hit and run accident is out of the hospital and on the road to recovery from whatever injuries were suffered in this Pennsylvania car accident.

Help for People Injured by Hit and Run Drivers In Pennsylvania

People who are victims of Pennsylvania hit-and-run accidents often face unique challenges in getting compensation for their harm. Often, the driver is uninsured because they’ve allowed their insurance to lapse, because they didn’t have permission to use the vehicle or because they are never found. Even if they are insured, the insurance is often inadequate.

Fortunately, Pennsylvania hit-and-run victims may have other remedies available to them. For example, if they are an insured on a Pennsylvania auto policy, there is a possibility of recovery from their own underinsured or uninsured motorist coverage.

Determining whether a Pennsylvania accident victim has a right to recovery and how to best protect and advance those rights often requires the advice and guidance of an experienced Pennsylvania accident attorney. People injured in hit-and-run accidents should waste no time in consulting with an experienced Erie hit-and-run lawyer (particularly because most Erie injury lawyers charge nothing for an initial consult).
