9 people were killed and 271 injured in 754 reportable Pennsylvania car crashes over the Labor Day weekend. Locally, there were 15 northwest Pennsylvania car accident injuries. Fortunately, there were no fatalities from Erie car crashes.
Of the 9 fatalities, 8 were reported as not wearing seat belts and 83 of the 754 reportable Pennsylvania car accidents involved alcohol. Of the Erie area car accidents, 4 involved alcohol.
In addition, State Police charged 374 people with DUI and issued 8,105 speeding citations over the holiday weekend.
The statistics were similar to last year’s when there were 9 fatalities, 285 injuries and 654 reportable Pennsylvania car collisions.
