September 7, 2010, Portland, NY — A Honda Odyssey carrying nine people veered off I-90 and struck a tree in Chautauqua County yesterday. The Interstate 90 car accident killed one and injured several others. At least three of the passengers were taken to Hamot Medical Center in Erie, Pennsylvania. One of the passengers, a woman, was pronounced dead by Erie County Coroner Lyell Cook. Two of the other passengers who had been taken to Hamot were said to be in “extremely critical condition.”
At least two children who were passengers in the vehicle were flown to a hospital in Buffalo. No information was available on their condition.
Our thoughts are with the grieving family and the other injured passengers that they recover soon and completely.
