Police said that Robert Sands, 19, of Waterford was northbound when a southbound vehicle driven by Thomas Williamson, 24, of North East, crossed the center line and struck Mr. Sands head on. Mr. Sands was taken by ambulance to Hamot Medical Center was he is reportedly in serious condition. Mr. Williamson was also taken to Hamot Medical Center where he was treated and released.
Police report that Mr. Williamson was intoxicated and was taken for arraignment on DUI and other traffic offenses. A witness reported that Mr. Williamson was seen to swerve several times before the Erie County DUI accident.
