October 26, 2010, Erie, PA — An Erie man injured in a pedestrian accident on East 12th Street is in serious condition in Hamot Medical Center’s intensive care unit. First reported in this blog yesterday, Wayne Hardesty, 77, was walking south on French Street in the crosswalk when a Dodge Ram turning east from French onto East 12th Street struck him.
Mr. Hardesty initially refused treatment at the scene but was persuaded by first responders to go to the hospital. The latest reports are that he is in serious condition in the hospital’s intensive care unit.
The driver of the truck, 45-year-old John A. Washock, has not been charged although police have reported that Mr. Hardesty had the right of way.
The accident happened at approximately 4:10 p.m. Sunday.
Our hopes are with Mr. Hardesty for a rapid and complete recovery.
