Thomas Burdett, 45, was reportedly driving a Peterbilt tractor-trailer west on Harmonsburg when he swerved to avoid a car that had slowed ahead of him. Mr. Burdett’s cab crossed into the eastbound lane where it struck, head-on, another Peterbilt rig driven William Oakes, 40. The trailer of Mr. Burdett’s tractor-trailer then struck the car in the westbound lane, a Ford Taurus driven by Joshua Durovey, 28.
Both tractor trailer drivers were taken by ambulance to Meadville Medical Center. Mr. Oakes was reportedly treated and released. Mr. Burdett was transferred to UPMC Hamot where he was listed in serious condition. Mr. Durovey did not report injury at the scene.
